Sunday Morning Church Service featuring Greg Hager
Songwriter and accomplished musician, Greg Hager offers original songs with a fresh authentic Western flair, from heartwarming to toe-tapping. Ballad-creator and tall-tale originator, Greg presents a musical program that will tickle the ears and inspire the heart. His music and message has a true “western styled” country and gospel focus, and is a delight for all members of the family.
An authentic Dakota-grown talent, Greg is making a name for his original music:
  • 2017 Entertainer of the Year Nominee with the Pro Cowboy Country Artist Association
  • 2017 Artist of the Year Nominee with the Pro Cowboy Country Artist Association
  • 2017 Album of the Year Nominee with the Pro Cowboy Country Artist Association
  • Nominated for seven years in a row as the Western Artist of the Year with the Academy of Western Artists
  • In the Valley Below album nominated as the Western Album of the Year with the Academy of Western Artists, and the Pro Cowboy Country Artist Association.
  • In the Valley Below album was also named the Country Album of the Year with the Rural Roots Music Association.
  • Greg’s single, Cowboy Dreaming, was nominated as the Western Song of the Year by the AWA
  • Songwriter for such noted country musicians as Royal Wade Kimes, who cut Greg’s single Cowboy Dreaming on his 2015 release called Shadows of Time.
  • Greg is a proud member of the Academy of Western Artists (AWA), the Western Music Association (WMA), and especially the Pro Cowboy Country Artist Association (PCCAA).
His rural western roots run deep, and he writes and sings about the life he knows and lives. Valuable lessons about honesty, integrity, and keeping your word—no matter what—were instilled at an early age, and form the backdrop of his musical perspective. Those values are timeless and resonate with everyone, which is why so many identify strongly with his music.
Worldwide, Hager’s music is making a difference. He regularly sells music in over a dozen countries. He has made two tours of Japan – performing only his original western, country, cowboy, and Gospel songs.
Musically, Hager writes everything that he sings and his style is heavily influenced by other great 12-string guitar pickers and story-tellers. His style is described as “Easy-going, melodic, and clever” relating to more traditional Country and Western music prior to the pop-culture influences.
Greg looks forward to adventures on the road. Chris LeDoux said it best, “Life IS a ride!” and Greg relishes the opportunities to meet and work with people across the globe. The epitome of a professional both on the stage and off, he is family friendly and a cowboy gentleman.
A Nashville-produced musician, Hager has recorded and released seven CD’s of 100% original music. In fact, he is the only artist in North Dakota history to do so. Four of his albums are “positive” Western-styled country songs, one Christmas album bringing joy to the holidays, and two albums of Country Gospel music that bring the “Good News” to song.
He is married with three children and lives in southeast North Dakota, near the family homestead.

John Johansen Celtic Guitar
The best description I could give of myself as a musician is a hobby guitarist who enjoys playing for family, friends and occasionally at church. I have always been a fan of the traditional Scottish, Irish and Celtic music but it has only been in the last two and a half years that I began to study this style of guitar. I am fascinated with the alternate tunings incorporated in this music and have enjoyed learning the history behind many of the songs.

My own personal story started about 11 years ago when I began taking guitar lessons from Nedra Millburn in Cedar Rapids. With Nedra I had the opportunity to learn a variety of music styles and to participate in local and regional music contests. In 2015 I met Dave Paris and began taking guitar lessons from him in Marion. Dave’s teaching helped me to grow musically from the good foundation I received from Nedra. Since starting to explore the Celtic guitar genre I have been learning and playing fingerstyle guitar arrangements written by Jim Tozier, El McMeen, Stephen Wake and Al Petteway.

My first public playing experiences were at the fall Marion Farmer’s Market in 2017 and at the Linn County Fair last summer. I have also been playing at some local assisted living facilities and have provided background music at a couple of Eastern Iowa Arts Academy art classes. My musical passion is to share the traditional Celtic songs I have so much enjoyed learning.
